This sequence would have taken place after Ellie and Dina return from Seattle, and according to Neil Druckmann, Ellie’s PTSD would have reared its head as she relentlessly pursued the animal. Finally, when she kills the boar, Joel’s voice would have been heard.
Druckmann previously commented that his sequence was given the chop due to “pacing and production.”
Meanwhile, another sequence uncovered involves an early version of Jackson, which seems to reveal that Naughty Dog intended for players to explore more of the town. Furthermore, the dance sequence appears to have been playable to some extent, rather than being presented as a cutscene in the final version.
The Last of Us: Part 2 was released in June 2020 for the PS4. Naughty Dog is reportedly working on a full remake of the original game for the PS5, while HBO is well into production on the first season of its The Last of Us TV adaptation.
