Even with console sales and hardware spending declining in major markets in the world like the US, the PS5 has consistently remained on the top of the sales totem pole.
Now, in its latest financial reports Sony has confirmed that the console has surpassed more than 61 million units sold after selling another 2.4 million units between April 1 and June 30, 2024.
Another big milestone for the PS5 on its way to hopefully being another successful console generation for PlayStation, though even at 61 million it still has a long way to go before it’ll catch up to the PS4’s 117.2 million units sold, never mind the PS2’s historic sales.
Elsewhere in the business Sony said that it is seeing an increase in profits, due in part to better numbers from PlayStation Plus.
With hardware sales consistently declining, and a PS5 Pro seemingly on the horizon, it’ll be interesting to see how hardware sales go the rest of the year, and if the expected Pro is able to positively impact hardware sales or not.
