Doug Cockle, the voice actor behind Geralt of Rivia in CD Projekt RED‘s The Witcher video game franchise, has told Eurogamer in its latest podcast that he was sad to see Henry Cavill leave his role as the character in Netflix’s TV series.
In case you missed it, Cavill, who confirmed recently that he’s going to be returning as Superman in the DC cinematic universe, is giving up his sword and handing over the role to Liam Hemsworth. Cockle says he’s sad to see him leave, as he thought he did a top job.
Well I think it’s really sad. And there’s a lot of people speculating on the reasons why he’s decided to leave, but whatever the reason is, I think it is sad, because Henry, he did a fabulous job as Geralt of Rivia.
Elsewhere, Cockle also recalled the time when he met Cavil during the premiere of The Witcher series in London.
I have a little memory of our conversation. I remember bits and snatches of conversation, but I think I was quite nervous! And I’d had a beer and it was one of those evenings where I felt a bit like a fish out of water, because it was at the premiere afterparty, and the vast majority of the people there were people involved in the production so they knew each other.
In related news, CDPR has confirmed that it is working on a brand new The Witcher saga, as well as a full remake of 2007’s The Witcher, which will utilise the Unreal Engine 5.
