YouTube channel DIY Perks has taken up the task of giving the PS5 a massive design overhaul, removing the polarising and bulky black and white outer shell and housing the console’s innards in a brand new casing using carbon fibre and walnut hardwood.

It’s impressive stuff to say the least, and isn’t the only time the channel has had a shot at giving the PS5 a makeover. Previously, Matthew Perks had managed to construct a PS5 out of brass.

The PS5 was released in the US, Europe and other major markets in November 2020, and has sold 7.8 million units worldwide as of March 31, 2021. While that’s a solid figure in its own right, it’s even more impressive considering Sony’s console has been plagued by stock shortages since launch.
