A trademark for ‘FATEKEEPER’ has been filed by publishing giant THQ Nordic, which has sparked rumours that the company is working on a sequel to Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning.
While the trademark doesn’t give anything away, apart from mentioning it pertains to ares such as “Computer software • Games software • Software programs for video games • Computer software for entertainment,” the term FATEKEEPER has got people assuming it relates to Kingdoms of Amalur, as the topic of fate is an important aspect of that game; the main character in the original was known as The Fateless One, for example.

It’s worth noting that there’s A THQ Nordic showcase set for August 1, so we could hear something about whatever this trademark relates to during said event. Anything else is just speculation at this point.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was released for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 back in 2012, and was developed by Big Huge Games. The game takes the form of action-RPG that sees players taking on the role of the protagonists — the aformentioned Fateless One — as they explore the Faelands, taking on quests and battling against enemies across open fields and hazardous dungeons. Players can customise their play style using different weapon types and skill trees, while the Destiny character class system and quests reward you with passive enhancements.
Developer Keiko worked on a remaster titled Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning in 2020, which was release for PS4, PC, and Xbox One, which was followed by a Nintendo Switch port and Fatesworm expansion in 2021.
