Titanfall 2 is the follow-up to 2014’s critically acclaimed Xbox One-exclusive sci-fi epic, and as such is the first entry in the franchise to see the light of day on PS4. The game is scheduled for release on both formats and PC this Friday, October 28, arriving just one week after fellow EA stablemate, Battlefield 1.

The game’s narrative centres on Jack Cooper, rifleman with the Frontier Militia, who just so happens to be an aspiring Titan pilot. However, while on duty Cooper finds himself stranded behind enemy lines, and must team up with a veteran Vanguard-class Titan known as BT-7274 in order to survive. Together, the duo form a strong partnership and battle against both alien and human forces originating from the nefarious Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation.

Titanfall 2 PS4 Pro support confirmed as on disc

Titanfall 2 differs from its predecessor in the sense it has a full-fledged single-player campaign in addition to the multiplayer component. While the story itself is presented in a linear fashion, the game features large-scale environments that can be explored at your leisure, offering multiple pathways to traverse. Other improvements also come in the skill system, with gamers now rated on their performance during an online match regardless if they win or lose.

Respawn has confirmed that Titanfall 2 will support PS4 Pro functionality from day-one, although the game will not run in native 4K on Sony’s upgraded hardware. Nonetheless, it will offer a more stable frame rate and enhanced visual effects.

The original Titanfall proved to be a huge success, with critics hailing its solid shooting mechanics and Blade Runner-inspired aesthetics. The game is reported to have sold 10 million copies as of October 2015, though this has yet to be verified by EA.
