Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment making new Star Wars game

Electronic Arts fittingly announced today on May 4th a new Star Wars game is in-development at Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind Titanfall and founded by former employees of Call of Duty creator Infinity Ward.

Unlike Titanfall, the Star Wars project by Respawn is a third-person, action adventure game set in a galaxy far, far away and is being worked on by the studio’s new team lead by Stig Asmussen, who formerly worked at Sony Santa Monica Studio.

Asmussen previously directed God of War III and served as lead environment artist and art director on God of War and God of War II, respectively. You can read his letter to fans, expressing excitement over his Star Wars project.

EA acquired the exclusive rights to develop and publish AAA blockbuster Star Wars games in 2013. In addition to Respawn, EA has studios Visceral Games, DICE, Capital Games, BioWare, Motive developing Star Wars games currently. Former Uncharted franchise creative director and writer Amy Hennig is working on Visceral’s unnamed Star Wars project.
