Todd Howard Confirms The Elder Scrolls VI Is ‘Still A Long Way Off’

Todd Howard, Director and Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios, has revealed during an interview with GQ that The Elder Scrolls VI is “still a long way off,” despite the fact it was announced seven years ago.

Right from the off, Howard made it clear that the next chapter in the fantasy-RPG series is “still a long way off,” adding “I’m preaching patience. I don’t want fans to feel anxious.” The Elder Scrolls VI game director was also quizzed if he would be up for shadow-dropping the game, similar to what Bethesda did with The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered. His reply? “You might say that was a test run. It worked well.”

I like to just announce stuff and release it. My perfect version – and I’m not saying this is going to happen – is that it’s going to be a while and then, one day, the game will just appear.

The Elder Scrolls VI was announced at E3 2018 with a brief teaser trailer, and nothing has been seen on the game since then. Of course, as Microsoft owns ZeniMax Media, it was assumed that The Elder Scrolls VI would not come to PS5 (and a document obtained during the Xbox maker’s court battle with the FTC stated this much), but now the company is bringing its exclusives to PlayStation, that this is hopefully no longer the case.
