Bethesda’s Todd Howard is only too well aware that fans are eager to see Fallout 3 Remastered, but isn’t ready to commit to anything just yet.
Speaking with Dextero, Howard was asked if there was anything he could say in regards possible Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas remasters, as it’s something that fans were very vocal about during the Fallout Day celebrations. Unsurprisingly, he wasn’t able to say much, but acknowledged fan demand. Here’s what he had to offer:
First thing is, we get it, right? We see all those comments, I allude to it when I was on the [Fallout Day] stream, and just to let people know, we see it, we’re working on a whole bunch of stuff and we look forward to the day when we reveal them.

As mentioned, we’ve been hearing about Fallout 3 Remastered for a while now. Recently, VGC claimed that one of the “other things” that Howard mentioned Bethesda was working on during an interview with GQ magazine is indeed the remaster of the 2008 RPG. In addition, leaker NateTheHate has stated that the game is in the works, but mentioned a few months back that it’ll “be a while” before we see it.
Interestingly, there has been nothing rumoured about a possible Fallout New Vegas remaster, but developers at Obsidian Entertainment have acknowledged that fans are eager to see a full sequel.
Further evidence pointing to a Fallout 3 Remaster dates back a few years, when it was listed in documents pertaining to Microsoft and the FTC’s legal battle over the Activision buyout. Notably, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was also mentioned, and that game eventually saw the light of day in April 2025.
Fallout 3 was originally released for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 back in October 2008. The game takes place in the ruins of Washington, D.C., as well as the surrounding countryside in an area known as the Capital Wasteland, in the year 2077.
