As far as we know, Tom Clancy’s The Division 3 isn’t anywhere near releasing on PS5 and other current-gen platforms. But that’s okay, for now at least, because Ubisoft is still updating The Division 2 with new seasons for players to work through, and new DLC.
At least, it would be okay for players, if the current DLC expansion players were waiting for hadn’t just been delayed…again. This particular expansion was originally meant to arrive during the game’s Year 6, and it was supposed to have been out in 2024.
That didn’t happen, and Ubisoft just confirmed today that players will have to wait a little longer for what’s supposed to be the next biggest expansion since Warlords of New York released back in 2020.
“Our team is dedicated to continuing to build the future of The Division 2,” Ubisoft began in a statement to players on the game’s official X account. “We have exciting updates in store including the new season we can’t wait for you to play starting on February 25th.”
“We know you are eagerly awaiting the release of the upcoming DLC. To ensure we deliver the best possible experience, we’ve decided to take a little extra time to refine it, therefore the DLC will not ship during Year 6.
Thank you for your patience and support. Stay tuned – more updates are headed your way soon!”
Players can at least look forward to the new season launch next month, though until then the Division 2 well seems to be pretty dry. Player responses to the delay of this DLC were not exactly positive, so much that you get the sense the player base would rather that support for The Division 2 would just end, so the whole Ubisoft Massive team could focus on the next game.
