Trading feature in The Division will ‘maybe make an appearance in the future’

Time constraints tend to lead to cutting out features, weapons, or other elements to many games in the industry, but Tom Clancy’s The Division has one specific feature taken out of the mold.

Trading items was expected to be included in The Division, allowing players to sell items between each other. However, speaking with Gamesradar, Associate Creative Director Julian Gerighty indicated that trading between players wasn’t as important as some of the other elements in the game. He was quotes saying that trading it comes down to a "priority of different features." He went on to say "It’s the reality of production. Some features make it, some features don’t."

While Gerighty didn’t detail the removed feature past standard statements on the matter, he brought up that the feature is one players may be looking for come March: "It’s something that obviously some people are very passionate about. it’ll maybe make an appearance in the future." The latter sentence doesn’t exclude trading from the game, but it does leave its possible inclusion into The Division as possible rather than expected. This means that, when interpreted, trading may not make it into the game at any point.

Whatever the future holds, PS4, PC, and Xbox One owners will have to wait to explore The Division’s Manhattan until March 8. The beta is still up for grabs, beginning Jan. 29.
