Trine devs not afraid to full advantage of the PS3

In an interview with 1up.com, Frozenbyte CEO and designer Lauri Hyvärinen gave insight into their newly announced PSN title Trine and discussed how development on the PlayStation 3 was not a concern as technology has always been a “strong point” for the studio.

"It’s a new platform to us, but we’re not worried," Hyvärinen said. "Technology has always been a strong point of ours — and Finnish developers, in general, as well."

When it came time to decide which console to develop for, Frozenbyte decided to go with the platform that best served their needs for their project.

"We want to make great games, and we choose the platforms that best fit each project," she said. "We’re expanding our reach to consoles now, and all downloadable channels are in our interest, most notably XBL and PSN."

"Trine has only been announced for PSN and PC at this point, but it’s not set in stone. That said, we’ve been really happy with PSN and the way things are handled there. Sony has been very responsive and fast, and their feedback has been excellent. We can’t wait to get Trine out the door!"

For those of you not up to date, Trine is a puzzle platformer with unique art direction and innovative gameplay mechanics. Choosing between three different characters, players will summon objects, swing from magical mushrooms, and utilize PhysX to their advantage in order to solve puzzles.
