Ubisoft has announced a new Global Creative Office, an initiative to restructure the studio to be less centralized, giving its studios more autonomy.
Coming from a new report from VGC, Ubisoft stated its intentions with this move are “to boost creativity and ensure the highest level of quality in the execution and delivery of Ubisoft’s games.”
“Building on the group’s vision, each pole will leverage its expertise to dive into the specificities of its audiences, game design and tech.”
While the recent Assassin’s Creed announcements definitely gave plenty of fans, old and new for the franchise something to be excited for, that doesn’t fully distract from the issues the studio has had with its employees, and a lack of action on the company’s part to properly address their concerns.
This restructuring could potentially be a part of how Ubisoft is trying to address some concerns, with providing some of its studios the autonomy necessary to implement better, employee-focused practices.
At least, that’s one hope.
