The UK scalper group CrepChiefNotify, which has previously claimed to obtain thousands of PS5s and Xbox Series S/Xs, has stated that they have managed to obtain another 2,000 next-gen consoles, but one member of the group who spoke anonymously to VGC has claimed that the organisation is exaggerating its results.
An Instagram post from the organisation on December 3, 2020, claimed 2,000 consoles were obtained by its members in 48 hours. However, a member of the group has spoken anonymously to VGC and stated that the actual figures are lower than they claim.
The member claims that the internal channel the organisation uses to confirm individuals have secured products suggests that number are being overblown and that subscribers of the service ChepChiefNotify offer only reported securing just under 200 consoles, split between PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
Speaking to VGC, the individual stated
“I can tell you for a fact that they straight up lied about their Xbox success today,”
“Either that or they are assuming at least 50% of members managed to buy a console.”

Of course, all of this is just accusations for now and we will likely never know if ChepChiefNotify’s numbers are true or false. Recently, Very, a retailer in the UK cancelled a number of orders in an attempt to stop scalpers from obtaining consoles.
The PS5 is available now.
