Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End‘s multiplayer component will clock in at 900p/60fps, developer Naughty Dog confirmed during a talk at the Paris Games Week overnight (via Eurogamer).
The California-based studio unveiled the debut trailer for the multiplayer mode during Sony’s press conference yesterday evening, confirming a host of new features for the action-packed online companion to Uncharted 4’s single-player campaign. Chief among the new additions include supernatural items to help give you the edge in combat (one sequence showed Drake using the treasure of El Dorado to confuse opponents) as well as AI-controlled support characters.
Uncharted 4’s multiplayer will go into beta in early December, with access to the teaser given away during the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection released earlier this month. The full game will be released on March 18, 2016, having been pushed back from its original winter 2015 launch window. Gamers will be able to get their first hands-on session with the multiplayer during Paris Games Week on the show floor, so expect some impressions and videos to start trickling onto the web soon enough.
Uncharted 4 will be the final chapter in adventurer Nathan Drake’s treasure hunting exploits, and Naughty Dog has admitted that continuing the series without the cocky hero is difficult to imagine. Voice actor Nolan North recently completed his motion-capture work for the action-adventure sequel, and recently claimed that fans of Uncharted aren’t too keen on seeing a movie adaptation of the popular series. Uncharted 4 will be the first entry in the franchise to feature single-player DLC, a move which was partly inspired by the success of The Last of Us’ ‘Left Behind’ expansion.
