Sony’s Uncharted movie has crossed $225 million at the worldwide box office just a couple of weeks after it debuted in UK cinemas, which means it’s on the right path to getting a sequel off the ground.
The Tom Holland-fronted action-adventure epic enjoyed a solid start in US cinemas one week ago, to the point where Sony described it as a “new hit movie franchise.” Couple that with the obvious sequel bait during the credits, it’s only a matter of time at this point that a follow-up will be greenlit.
Uncharted hoovered up another $35 million this weekend, bringing its total to $226.4 million at the worldwide box office. In terms of video game movies, this is a strong figure, although we’ll have to see whether it tops the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog or not.
