Spider-Man Homecoming actor Tom Holland has once again teased his much anticipated role in the upcoming Uncharted movie adaptation.
Holland posted on Instagram that he's preparing for his role as the cheeky treasure hunter by playing through Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection on PlayStation 4.
The actor posted the caption “For research purposes” alongside the video, although it's since been taken down. Evidently, Sony wasn't too happy with Holland letting the cat out of the bag.
The Uncharted movie is reportedly going to be an origins story that focuses on a younger Nathan Drake. No details are available on the plot or cast, although Holland has publicly championed Chris Pratt for the role of Sully.
Uncharted movie finally on track
Sony has been attempting to get an Uncharted movie off the ground since 2009. Since then, the film has seen numerous directors and writers attached to the project.
The movie was originally due to hit cinemas in summer 2017, back when Sony Pictures attempted to steer the project in a new direction following
Back in January, writer Joe Carnahan revealed that the film's script was completed and contained some heavy action setpieces. However, it appears this version of the movie has now been dropped in favor of a prequel.
There's no word on a new release date for the Uncharted movie, with Sony yet to confirm when the project will start shooting.
The Uncharted video game series recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, having launched on PS3 back in November 2007.
Developer Naughty Dog polished off its final instalment in the series, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, in August of this year. It's currently unknown if there will be an Uncharted 5, although the studio has suggested the series can live on without Drake in the lead role.
