Speaking during an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Atlas Productions’ Charles Roven has revealed that there are still plans to produce a sequel to the Uncharted movie. For those unaware, Atlas was one of the key production companies involved in Uncharted alongside Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions.
When asked if there was any desire to produce a new Uncharted movie given the success of the first, he replied:
Oh yeah! We had a really good time with that movie. The fans really liked the movie, and people who didn’t know anything about the game really liked the movie. So we are definitely looking to make another one of those.
The Uncharted movie was released in February 2022 and is an origins story depicting the first mission between Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan. The film combines elements of multiple Uncharted games, notably the cargo plane sequence from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, and sees Tom Holland taking on the role of a younger Drake.
A sequel to Uncharted was always on the cards from what we gather, with the head of Sony Pictures describing the original movie as a ‘franchise.’
