Update: Codemasters has taken to Twitter to clarify its intention for posting the number ”4” on its offical account; turns out it was for a special giveaway scheduled to take place soon rather than an enigmatic confirmation of DiRT 4.

Original Story: The next chapter in the venerable off-road racing franchise, DiRT, has seemingly been teased on Twitter by publisher Codemasters.
Writing on the social networking site, the publisher simply posted the number “4,” followed by “oops sorry, finger slipped.”
Given that we haven’t seen a full-fledged DiRT since 2011–that is, if you don’t count DiRT 3: Complete Edition, which is a re-release that hit stores two years ago—it’s about time that a fourth installment in the series materialized.
Nothing official has been confirmed as of yet, though from the look of things, it’s only a matter of time until we hear something. Stay tuned.
