[UPDATE] MonkeyPaw working to fix Arc the Lad EU release

UPDATE:

MonkeyPaw has issued a second update on the situation, as well as seemingly teasing future releases in the PSN Imports range:

Hi Guys, Thanks for all your support in the launch of the Import section. We realize the wrong version of Arc the Lad is on sale. Of course, the intention was for the English version to be sold. Sony is working on getting the English ready and will replace the JP versions already purchased. Please give them some time.”

“As some of you know from our US site, we offer games that are in Japanese but are relatively easy-to-navigate fighters, shooters and puzzles. We also have a couple of RPGs (Arc, Alundra, Vanguard Bandits — oops, did I say that?) that we’ll bring you in English.”

We hope you like our games and understand that some will be in Japanese only. See our site for info on the games. Sorry for the launch trouble and thanks for your patience.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Folk who downloaded PSOne classic Arc the Lad yesterday via the EU PlayStation Store were dismayed to find they got their paws on the Japanese version of the acclaimed RPG, rather than the English copy.

The title forms part of Sony’s PSN Imports initiative, and was previously released in North America – the very same version developer MonkeyPaw Games intended to make available for gamers in PAL regions.

However, due to a mistake, punters have been lumbered with the Japanese release, though the company has since confirmed it is working with Sony to remedy the issue.

"Unfortunately, this is a mistake," commented MonkeyPaw’s Marketing Manager, Ray Almeda. “ We never intended to use the Japanese version. We expected the English version that we used in America. We’re currently working with Sony on a fast and efficient fix, especially for those who have already downloaded the game.”

"We will speak to Sony and get this situation clarified shortly. Thanks again for your attention and immense patience."

Stay tuned.
