Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II has officially gone gold, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive have announced.
A short message to players posted on Twitter from Focus Entertainment’s official account with a quick gif got the news across, and now the dev team has exactly two months at time of writing to further polish the game up and ensure it’s ready for launch day.
Going gold is a major milestone in the development of any game, and hopefully the team is able to take the time it needs for Space Marine II to have a smooth launch day.
At the beginning of July, Focus Entertainment announced that it would be cancelling a planned open beta for Space Marine II that was set to go live ahead of its September launch.
The decision to cancel the beta was made in order to prioritize launch day, and making sure everything would be running as intended come September 9. The news that it has gone gold certainly seems to indicate cancelling the beta was the right call, even if some players were upset by not having the chance to check it out early.
