Naughty Dog is currently developing a brand new Uncharted game, according to a new report on MP1st.
While there’s not much in the way of details to go on right now, the report states that Nathan Drake is expected to appear in the new Uncharted game in some form, but it’s unclear at this point how significant his role will be. The project is also the next game from Naughty Dog after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, and is being directed by Shaun Escayg.
This ties in with what we heard recently from leaker NateTheHate, who stated that Escayg’s new project is not related to The Last of Us — in case you missed it, Naughty Dog confirmed earlier this week that it has two projects in the works for that franchise. Furthermore, the leaker has since stated that the mystery title is indeed a new Uncharted game.
Escayg previously directed 2017’s The Last of Us: The Lost Legacy, which to date is the most recent entry in the action-adventure franchise. Prior to that, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End launched in 2016, and seemingly capped of Nathan Drake’s story as he put treasure hunting behind him to raise his daughter, Cassie, with wife Elena.
The Uncharted series launched in 2007 for the PS3 with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, and spawned a huge franchise including Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (2009) and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (2011).
