Last week at Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions released a new trailer of Metal Gear Solid V running on PlayStation 4 hardware, and they have also released the English version of the opening sequence.
Due to the inclusion of the song Flight of the Valkyrie, the original gameplay trailer that was released a year ago was taken off the internet to avoid repercussions of copyright infringement on the part of Kojima Productions. Though this new trailer doesn’t include the entire amount of footage that the original trailer did, this one has the first taste of what’s to come with some of the new voice actors, including Keifer Sutherland as the voice of Naked Snake. Regarding this front, Kojima sought to change Snake’s voice actor, because he wishes to "recreate the Metal Gear series. It’s a new type of Metal Gear game, and we want to have this reflected in the voice actor as well." The trailer features a few familiar names to the franchise, including Christopher Randolph, the voice actor for Hal Emmerich as well as Hewey in Peace Walker; the latter is assumed as the role that Randolph will be donning in MGS V.
For fans of the series: try not to get too worked up by the way that Naked Snake says the franchise-stapled phrase, "Kept you waiting, huh?" Dwelling on it will only make you miss David Hayter even more. Let us know your thoughts on Keifer’s delivery of Naked Snake as well as the choices in voices for some of the other characters as well.
