Will Blue Box Studios Abandon “Abandoned”?

After August 10, 2021 came and went without the release of a trailer from developer Blue Box Studios, frustrations and annoyance levels online seemed to bubble over more than they have before, and after some digging on Blue Box Studios had been done, with their track record of leaving projects, will they just abandon Abandoned?

They may have already started the process.

Earlier we reported on the spotty history of Blue Box Studios, and their seeming inability to execute a launch for multiple projects, consistently dropping them and moving on or releasing them in buggy, unfinished states. One aspect of their previous patterns has been the deletion of their online presence around previous projects, in one case even going so far as to delete their website.

Blue Box Studios has already started to delete elements of their online presence around Abandoned, and specifically the patch which was supposed to release with a trailer for the Realtime Experience app. SpawnWave, a YouTuber within the gaming community was quick to spot that Blue Box has already deleted their tweets around the patch, its delays, and their issues.

You can check their account, and the most recent tweet you’ll now find there is the short clip they released just before the patch was actually set to go live. If you want to see some of these tweets, you can still read their text from the links embedded in our coverage of everything regarding the release and delay of the patch.

What’s more, is that the developer has also deleted all of the videos on their own YouTube channel for the game, which previously hosted the only few clips we’ve seen of the game and a video from the studio’s head, Hasan Kahraman.

It is worth noting that if you go to their website now, while it is just a landing page, the site does state in a bright green bar at the top that the issue has been resolved, and that a patch will be live within a few hours, but considering their past and their recent behavior, there’s no reason to really believe that’ll be the case.

Blue Box Studios may not abandon Abandoned just yet, but that process already seems to have started. It feels as if we’re almost nearing the end of this saga, though it looks like it is going to be a very different ending than what many thought, and much more anti-climatic.
