Bandai Namco Games has already confirmed that Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will be punching its way onto PlayStation 4 at some point this year, but it hasn’t clarified is whether or not the fighting game sequel will be arriving on Xbox One or PC.
However, speaking during the recent Final Round, Tekken 7’s Michael Murray touched on a number of subjects on the hotly anticipated title, particularly the number of characters who will be included in the game.
The interviewer observed that a number of Tekken 6’s combatants haven’t yet showed up in Tekken 7, prompting him to speculate as to whether they have been killed off or not. Sadly, Murray could not elaborate much on the roster, although did make it clear there are still more characters to be announced.
Most interesting, however, is the topic of the console port of the game. Murray reiterated that the publisher has only announced a PS4 release, and went on to say that there’s some ‘other stuff that will be announced later’ in regards to exclusive content—and this is separate to the VR features currently in the pipeline.
He went on to add that it would be easy to port Tekken 7 to other formats but stopped short at confirming an Xbox One release; it’s clear that the game’s future beyond PS4 has yet to be decided. Could we potentially see the latest instalment in Bandai Namco’s series to return to its PlayStation-exclusive roots?
Tekken 7 features a more streamlined character roster than the sprawling Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and will conclude the long-running Mishima family feud that has been at the centre of the game’s mythos for years now.
Check out the interview below, which features plenty of in-game footage of the arcade version of Tekken 7.
