World Of Warcraft Studio Talks About Bringing The Game To Consoles ‘All The Time’

Speaking during an interview with GamesRadar at BlizzCon 2023, Holly Longdale, vice President and executive producer for World of Warcraft, has revealed that the team discussed the possibility of bringing the game to consoles ‘all the time.’

World of Warcraft is celebrating its 20th anniversary next year, having released back in 2004 and has remained one of the most popular video games around ever since. However, when asked if the game’s lack of console release is due to “technical logistics or complexities that would hold World of Warcraft bak from coming to console,” Longdale replied:

I don’t think it is [about technical issues], frankly. I think we’re pretty well positioned [to port it to consoles], which is kind of why we talk about it. It’s a complicated question. And for a console audience, the approachability is likely going to be different.

Right now, we’re focused on the Worldsoul Saga. But if that comes up, then we’ll reexamine things but, man, we’ve got enough to deal with right now.

World of Warcraft originally released for the PC on November 23, 2024, and has received nine expansion to date: The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor, Legion, Battle for Azeroth, Shadowlands, and Dragonflight.
