Digital Bros has acquired the IP rights to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers for around €4 million, following reports earlier this month that the game’s development team had effectively dissolved.
“Securing the IP will enhance the Group’s ability to make timely decisions regarding its future development and related investments,” said Digital Bros in a statement. Furthermore, a press release issued on the company’s official website added, “The Transaction secures full ownership of the IP for the Group, enabling full retention of the value generated throughout its lifecycle and eliminating any future royalty obligations to the developer. The total consideration amounts to RMB 32 million (approximately Euro 4 million), that will be funded through the Group’s available credit lines.”
The press release also offers some indication of how successful Wuchang: Fallen Feathers was, revealing it hit over 130,000 concurrent players on Steam and entering the Top Sellers list at launch. The game has sold over one million copies globally and pulled in €30 million, which “[confirms] the strength of the product and its long-term potential,” says Digital Bros.

As previously reported, the team at Leenzee Games had been informed to transition to outsourcing or “support work tied to other projects” following the departure of director Xia Siyuan just prior to the Lunar New Year. This resulted in a lack of additional support for Wuchang, as the game hasn’t seen any major expansions since launch.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers takes the form of an action-RPG Soulslike set during the late Ming Dynasty period in the land of Shu, which is plagued by warring factions and a mysterious illness that spawns blood-thirsty creatures. Players follow Wuchang, an amnesiac pirate warrior who has to contend with her mysterious past while struck by the Feathering disease, as she navigates the depth of Shu as you battle grotesque creatures.
