Update 02/03/21 18:04 – This appears to now be working as we have been able to redeem the free upgrade on our end after installing the latest update for the game.
Original Story – As Yakuza: Like A Dragon has now launched on PS5, players have found that their free upgrade for digital copies isn’t being redeemed and players are being forced to buy the PS5 version.
If you own a disk, this problem isn’t an issue for you. But, for those digital owners, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced on Twitter that they are looking into the issue and hoping to resolve it as soon as they can.
The issue also prevents players from downloading the DLC for the game, but the team have also said they are looking into that as well. So, for now, the best bet is to hold off and wait for the issue to be fixed.
Thank you to all our fans for your patience and continued support!

Our PS5 review of the game is on the way, but for now, you can read our PS4 review to see why it is a solid evolution of the franchise. Unfortunately, save data for the title won’t transfer over from PS4 to PS5, so you will have to start the game again if you do upgrade. Although, there is a brand new trophy list for you to earn if you want to go back through it again.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon is available now on PS4 and PS5.
