For those out of the loop, Dark Ties is a brand new side-story exclusively available with Yakuza Kiwami 3, which follows Mine-san as he’s plunged into the dark world of the yakuza having once led a successful startup company. Players of the original Yakuza 3 will recognise the major role that Mine plays in that game, but before that, you’ll experience his story as he sets out to find true bonds, clashing with enemies using brutal, boxing-based combat.
Dark Ties was not initially planned to be a playable side-story, as RGG Studio had originally conceived the project as a non-interactive video. However, the popularity of Mine as a character among fans saw the studio decide to transform it into a fully playable experience.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is slated for release in February 2026 for PS5, PS4, PC, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
