Zero Time Dilemma PS4 port gets sinister new trailer

The debut trailer for the PlayStation 4 version of Zero Time Dilemma has been released by Spike Chunsoft.
The visual novel/puzzler sequel has previously been released for PS Vita, 3DS, and PC. The PS4 version of Zero Time Dilemma offers revitalized graphics compared, improving upon the PC version.

The successor to (and final part of the Zero Escape trilogy) Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, and Virtue’s Last Reward sees nine participants awaken in an underground facility, imprisoned with a strange black bracelet on their wrists. To escape, they must play a game with deadly consequences. The rules are simple–after six people are killed, the escape hatch will open. Who will live, and who will die? The choice is yours, and the choices you make see the narrative branch off into new places.

Virtue’s Last Reward Review

You’ll explore 3D environments for clues to solve mind-bending puzzles and escape your prison, question your morality in a series of life-or-death decisions where even the best option carries horrifying implications, and jump freely between events and characters to piece together the fractured narrative and unlock multiple endings.

Also of note, Zero Time Dilemma features fully voiced and animated story sections that help bring the grim tale to life, and long-term series fans will be pleased to learn that characters from Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors and Virtue’s Last Reward will also return, and are joined by a new cast of participants to give something for first-timers to grab hold of in what has become an increasingly twisted story.

Zero Time Dilemma Vita Review

PSU’s own Kyle Prahl reviewed the PS Vita version of Zero Time Dilemma in July of last year, and while he didn’t find it to be a great sequel, calling the game out for being ‘significantly less polished, with ideas and changes that nearly always step backward’, many others adored it, with the game reaching a very respectable 82 on OpenCritic. Hopefully this version can correct some of the criticisms raised with the handheld version.

Zero Time Dilemma’s PS4 release will occur August 17 in Japan, whilst the Western world will have to wait for Fall/Autumn to solve the mystery.
