Zombie actors injured on Resident Evil: Retribution set

Sixteen actors on the set of upcoming horror flick Resident Evil: Retribution have been injured after falling off a platform, it has been confirmed.

A total of 12 actors have been taken to hospital, with one victim suffering from a cracked rib, another a broken leg, while a third has reportedly sustained a back injury. Seven actors have reportedly returned to the set of the film.

According to Police constable Tony Vella, the actors were positioned on a high-wheeled platform which moved as they attempted to transfer over to another one, resulting in a gap which they then fell through.

Rescue workers noted that it was difficult to assess the extent of the injuries at first due to the fact the victims were dressed as zombies at the time.

David Ralph, an emergency medical service commander based in Toronto, commented, "I could see the look on the first paramedic, saying ‘Oh my God,’"

"It did kind of catch us off guard when we walked in," added Toronto police sergeant, Andrew Gibson.

Resident Evil: Retribution is due out in cinemas in September 2012, and features returning heroine Alice (played by Milla Jovovich) alongside a host of familiar faces including Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr) Rain Ocampo (Michelle Rodriguez) and Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts).
