Zone of the Enders 2 PS4 remaster announced, will have PSVR support

Zone of the Enders 2 PS4 remaster announced

Sony announced during its pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference this morning that Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner is coming to the PlayStation 4 in March 2018.

The mech-based action game, which was directed by Metal Gear maestro Hideo Kojima, will arrive on Sony’s current-generation console with full PlayStation VR support, 4K resolution graphics, and surround sound.

Konami has said that these new features will allow gamers to “relive the odyssey from a new perspective.”

The original Zone of the Enders was released for the PlayStation 2 in 2001, and spawned a sequel, Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, a few years later. Despite receiving strong reviews, both titles were not as commercially successful as Konami’s other titles at the time.

Back in 2012, both games were ported to the PS3 and Xbox 360 as the Zone of the Enders HD Collection, featuring Trophy/Achievement support, redrawn art, and other extra features.

Unfortunately, due to low sales of the HD Collection, Kojima-san’s planned Zone of the Enders 3 was cancelled and the franchise currently remains in limbo.
