Breaking: Qore reveals the PSP Go

The PSP Go has been revealed by the June 2009 iteration of Qore.
The PSP Go features a 3.8-inch sliding screen, is 43% lighter than the PSP-3000, has 16 gigs of flash memory, supports Bluetooth, and has all digital content. Just to reiterate, that means that there's no UMD drive. It also supports memory stick micro, so you can "add extra memory to it if you'd like."
There will, of course, be a large emphasis on games in the digital marketplace (including Gran Turismo, Jak and Daxter, and Metal Gear Solid PSP games), but movies and other content will be offered as well.
GCN has posted the video of Qore on YouTube, so have a gander at the next iteration of the PSP for yourself below.

UPDATE: Here's one last key detail -- the PSP Go will hit retail shelves this fall.

My thoughts are:
- I'm surprised at its size. It's much smaller than I thought it would be. Time will tell if that's a good thing.
- I'm pleased they've ditched the UD format, but disappointed at the lack of a second nub.
- I can't believe Sony allowed information on it to be released in such a major way before E3.

From the look of things, I'd say this is just a means for Sony to expand their hardware base. They're not caring for the current base of gamers (unless you are one that's hated carrying your now older PSP around). I may or may not purchase this new version. I will be holding off on making that decision until more information is available concerning the back catalog of games on UMD.

Did I hear correctly? All current PSP games will be able to be downloaded via PSN? I don't have a PSP right now, and I pretty much only want it for KH:BbS. I'm a casual portable gamer, so if all games will be available, that'd make me want this over the PSP-3000.

Commercial suicide!!! As other have said I have 28 PSP games all UMD, is there going to be a way to convert my UMD games so I can put it on the PSP GO? I doubt it, way to alienate their current customer base. Also the lack of a second analogue nub might suck, I'm guessing they couldn't do it because the games still need to be played on the original PSPs as well. What a mess!!!

WTF there better be a psp 2 right a round the f uking corner i waited all this time for dual ano
and this is what they make WTF plus when this was leaked a while back they speculated HD (or upgraded graphics) i didnt see any improvements. also i no it was a long shot but i was really hoping
for touch screen usage when the device is closed that way sony could touch down on the i phone or
i touch competition and maybe even have apeal to old DS fans. it would have been a fun interactive way of sorting through and browsing media and would have given developers a new creative outlet for what could have been new exiting exclusives. and as i said it was a long shot
but to not have dual ano's come on!!!! i havent bought any psp games within the last 2 years cause non of the games are f ukin playable this really pissed me off today and i hope sony really gets there sh it together. i have always been a playstation fan boy but sometimes sony makes a little difficult

I love it. Will be getting this over the older PSP no doubt. The only problem I have with it is only digital. Games are going to have to be at least 2-3 gigs. So I can only have 4 games and a few movies on there and when I want a new one, I have to delete it and have to pay for it again if I want it again. Hopefully you can store the games somewhere like on a HDD.

The PS Store has a record of what you have purchased, so even if you delete your games, you can just redownload them without having to pay for them again, given that you have already paid for them. I am also sure that the games won't be over 1.5GB, given that the UMD only has about what...1.8GB of storage in dual layer mode?
The biggest problem for many will be their old PSP game library, but I have to say I love the whole portable games without discs deal. I am not all for digital distribution, but this PSP does make gaming on the go a lot nicer. WIth this, I won't have to carry 10 different little discs arround, and won't have to go through the hassle of ejecting the game I was playing, storing it, then taking out the new game and booting it up.
The best thing Sony could do is find a way to let users download their current games for free, but that would be practically impossible. However, regardless of the design, I can say that I do want one.

This does not look like a portable console built for gamers, they're obviously going after the ipod audience. I just wished they made it wider so they could add a second thumb stick. oh well ill just download MGS and GT to my mem stick rather than buying this thing.

Tough crowd here. haha. Maybe it will be cheaper by like 50 dollars. old as dirt tech and no umd. only thing that would raise the price is the 16GB of flash.

The design is great.
Dont like it not having the UMD drive ...but I suppose that it must be done to end piracy that is killing the machine.I just wonder what will happen in Japan ,where PSP games do sell in big quantities in their UMD discs ...
