Criterion unveils four Burnout Paradise content packs

With tricked-out racing game competition arriving in the form of Rockstar's Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Criterion has wheeled its open-world gas-guzzler Burnout Paradise back to the garage for a few tune-ups.

More than a few, actually - the developer has just unveiled four - that's right, FOUR - downloadable content packs, to hit the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live in Spring 2009.

Details for each pack will be announced on October 31, November 7, November 14 and November 21, so keep checking Criterion's website.

Released in January, Burnout Paradise is the seventh game in the series and the first to nab a slice of the ole' non-linear pie. We loved it to bits - quite literally, in fact, given Criterion's taste for spectacular vehicular carnage.

Anybody care to speculate on the contents of those packs? Tell us about it in the comments thread below.

There's been a lot mentioned allready what these could be : party modes, cops and robbers / pursuit mode, more bikes, online bike ranked racing, planes, mixed car & bikes freeburn, i want custom freeburn challenges tho.

I'm sure there was a rumour going round a while back that Criterion were thinking of adding planes in to Burnout.

I would really like for them to bring back the old school crash sequences they had in the earlier titles. Racking up the cost of how much carnage you can create.

    Staticneuron,

The crash mode you speak of is in the game...it's called Showtime Mode.

But I would like to speculate that one of them (at least) is going to be a new area of Paradise City.  More content is always a good thing!

Maybe it would be nice if they touch up the bike upgrade.  It was an awesome upgrade but I found the lack of bike races a little anoying.

new island, bikes vs. cars, more bikes, more online challenges and different modes..

and please remove showtime and get the good old "crash into an intersection trick" back like #5 said.

#6 has no idea what he's talking about.

psn id: gingo.... this is why i respect criterion as a developer, even when they have made a fantastic game they are still producing top quality DLC and its usually free

They will expand the driving area and the we will have a "hot persuit" mode. After that maybe an online expansion as well.

Well one of them will probably be the new island they're hinting about. You can see it on the far east side of the map, there's a big bridge going over to a new island.

Pursuit would be awesome and one of the few things the game is currently missing, evern if you count marked man. The island across the way that we're waiting for the bridge to be completed to get to is most defininatly one of the updates.

HHmmm lets hope one of those packs fixes the lack of RESTART RACE option, i gave up playing it or even attempting to complete it because of the complete chore that is having to go all the way back to the start to try again.  aarrrrrggghhhhhh!!
