FF Versus XIII dev time moving faster than FFXIII

While Final Fantasy XIII might be hogging all the limelight away from the PS3-exclusive outing in the eagerly anticipated Fabula Nova Crystallis series – otherwise known as Versus XIII – producer Yoshinori Kitase has revealed that development of the latter is actually progressing at a “comparatively faster rate” than its multiplatform counterpart.
Apparently, this is down to the fact some of the staff involved with FF Versus XIII were pulled off the project to work on the core entry, FFXIII, and subsequently their "knowledge and experience" has greatly facilitated development of the action-orientated PS3 entry.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been keeping a low profile for the past six months or so, with a firm release date yet to be pinned down. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy XIII will be hitting stores in the U.S. and Europe in spring 2010. A Japanese PS3 release is due this winter.
PSU will have more info on both games as soon as it breaks.

YAY i love final fantasy although i only started at PS2's FFX.
So far I have only played FFX, FFX-2, FFXII and FFVIIDoC.
So jealous of you fans that have been playing it since the original. A truly great video game series, that never fails to deliver and never disappoints.

@ 4, Versus is a completely different game with different characters and complete own gameplay mechanics. Not an x-pac
It will be 'similar' to that of Kingdom Hearts i've heard. a kind of run around hack and slash type game. Thats what they said a while ago -

Based on the hype of the Kingdom Hearts series, I played Kingdom Hearts 2 and I thought it was horrible. I agree with @10, I hope it is nothing like it.

Versus is action orriented, and is supposed to be in some way similiar to kingdom hearts. Its also supposed to be the darkest final fantasy ever.

I have to agree with aaronSoldier, from the videos and screen captures I have seen of Versus it does look to be the best out of the Fabula Nova Crystallis titles. I say this because the game looks to be much darker and futile than the others and that is the type of feel that I would love to see in a FF game and the main character just looks to be bad a**.

I have the Final Fantasy XIII trial demo and after seen the trailer for Versus XIII I have to said that it's already more detailed than XIII (I will buy all). The character's face, the enviroment and it have more clothing simulation than FF13...
I hope the game still exclusive, but you never know...

FFXX will be out before this game actually launch. I gave up all interest in this one. I remember Home took this long but not really this long. Just the same new breaks, "It will be out very soon." About time very soon got around my brother new born was walking and talking..

FF games are very long in length. Usually 40+ hours. It all started with a title you may have heard tossed around quite a bit called FF7. Before FF7 games weren't listed in hours it was levels or chapters for the most part. We all have FF7 to thank for how may hours a game lasts. The producers of 13 said that it will be around 50+ hours.
Lastly I would agree with evryone else's post that says that they're more interested in Versus 13. I think with a title that carries the name FINAL Fantasy, it should carry a dark tone.

vXIII sounds way better story-wise than XIII but i havnt really seen any gameplay or anything besides that 1337 trailer with all the swords
im way more interested in vXIII and its pissing me off that Enix isnt telling me anything
also, why the f$%k did they have to delay the PS3 version of XIII for the 360 version? many games release on 1 console 6months to a year before the other and thats fine by me because i can get them on either console and whats the point in delaying a project once its already finished?
you used to be my favorite dev square--why did you change?
