Remember Fatal Inertia, the futuristic racer that was delayed time and time again? It's back in the form of Fatal Inertia EX, a downloadable title that is set to give WipEout at least a little competition.
"After the launch of the Xbox 360 version, we had a unique situation that allowed us to reflect on what could be done with the PlayStation 3 version," commented lead producer Mike Bond. "But having watched the growth of the PlayStation Network's user base and the game's multiplayer component, we felt the strength of this game would be in its online community."
We've heard that before though. The real news is that the title finally has just gone gold and now has a tangible release date -- June 19.
"With the extra time that we had for the North American release (the game is already available in Japan), we were able to substantially improve network connectivity for online matches and eliminate some rare game freezes as well," remarked Bond. "I'm really looking forward to challenging some people in some intense online races."
While Fatal Inertia EX certainly looks more appealing than its 360 counterpart, we don't know if it will manage to outshine the upcoming WipEout HD, a futuristic racing title coming from the talented SCE Studios Liverpool. If you need some extra convincing, there will be a downloadable demo available on June 19 as well. Fatal Inertia EX will be available on the PlayStation Store on June 19 for $29.99.

I played the 360 demo and the crafts hovered and would bounce and hit rocks which became annoying. For the PS3 they re-worked this and now the crafts fly at a certain height never hitting the ground even after a leap in the air. This is much better game than the 360 version with PSXetreme giving it 8/10 but some sites like to differ giving it around the 6 mark.
