Ubisoft has released the first gameplay footage of its highly anticipating next-generation Prince of Persia title.
The trailer focuses a great deal on co-operative play between the Prince and his female compatriot, as the pair scale huge structures and battle against various enemies. The acrobatics and combo attacks employed by the duo are quite eloquent to say the least.
View the trailer below.
Prince of Persia is scheduled for release in late 2008.

That's looking distinctly last-gen if I'm honest with you and I'm no fan of this style. Especially as this isn't even a proper gameplay trailer, I was expecting a heck of a lot better. But still, it's early days yet, I hope this gets better in time.

I've played the all the PoP's multiple times. The art direction and story-telling have been a great benchmark for other developers to gauge their efforts by.
Unfortunately they don't seem to have taken this in the direction I was hoping it was headed. I'm suprised and a little put off by the new cartoon styling. I will buy it and play it, but only in honor of the previous versions and to see where they are taking the storyline.
I guess they were trying to make it distinct from Assa. Creed but perhaps they would have been better taking the AC realism and adding better story-telling and cut-scenes. Something that AC did really badly.
Also AC didn't really provide us with much real gameplay, games are too easy nowadays and I found the old PoP's to be more challenging and therefore more enjoyable - actually getting stuck at times.
I hope this lives up to it's predecessors. I guess time will tell. The unique ability to reverse time is now gone so playing this may be more frustrating than previous incarnations. Here's hoping that Ubi have learnt from the HUGE mistakes with AC and provide us with a game rather than a technical showcase with a half-baked story presentation.

Too many haters in this rant...er I mean comment section. To me the artistic style suits the game perfectly and think the backgrounds look amazing. I will definitely pick this up.
