Sony' Chief Executive in southern Europe, James Armstrong, has revealed in an interview with a Spanish newspaper that Gran Turismo 5 will be released in Europe next Christmas.
We've included the full translated quote from the newspaper below.
“For next year, the chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment for southern Europe said that they are developing a new game thriller, in which the player may be designing their own history, and the new version of Gran Turismo, which will arrive at Christmas.”
It's always nice to find out a little early how 2009 may shape up. With titles like Killzone 2 starting the year off right, a heavy finisher like Gran Turismo 5 definitely gives PlayStation 3 owners something to look forward to.
2009 is inarguably shaping up to be a stellar year for Sony’s black box of tricks, with the likes of Killzone 2, Heavy Rain and now Gran Turismo 5 all the more reason to invest in the company’s latest powerhouse.

How about that? I just started playing Prologue again, too. Maybe I should stop...

This cannot afford to be delayed, considering its going to be a Christmas release.
It won't do if people expect to buy it as a Christmaas present, only to find its delayed until after Christmas. I hope they manage to release on time....although..its still a very long way off. :(

i'm only getting this if the top gear test track is on it, other than that the gran turismo series has nothing to offer gamers that other games don't provide anymore. the game has hardly changed since the first one, still crap wheel screeching sound effects when you turn the corner. no sence of acceleration either, not even in the formula one car. the only thing they have improved on is graphics. without damage it seems so dated. i bought GRID and honestly speaking thought it was 10 times better than prologue, even if prologue was a longer game. and i bet codemasters get 2 quality racing games out before this is released. those of us still bigging it up cos its exclusive need to wake up and smell the exhaust fumes!

The top gear test track in game would be sweet! I never thought this game would get released. Glad to hear some news. However, I'm sure it will be delayed at least once more.

Isn't anyone else tired of waiting for this game? I can only keep my excitement for a title up for so long before something else catches my eye and I move on.
