Kitase-san reveals FFXIII's story is now "complete"

Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase has revealed that Final Fantasy XIII’s story component is now complete, with the team soon to begin work on the game’s Japanese voice recording sessions.
Speaking with 1up.com, Co-Producer Kitase-san addressed the top of Square’s plans to lesson the gap between the Japanese and western release of the highly anticipated RPG, commenting, “As you mentioned, it definitely helps the localization when you’ve got a finalized story.”
“Our story is now complete, and we’re just about to start the voice casting and recording. Once that’s complete, we can really get into the localization process,” he stated.
Final Fantasy XIII is due out on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 some time in 2009.

To the above: Mine hasn't. I was disappointed, sure, and very well upset. I'm over it though. Time to move on and I'm still looking forward with immense anticipation to this game.
To the author of the news: It's "lessen"; not "lesson". Just thought I'd point that out to you.

I dont know about this game anymore really, might get it might not - i wish the PS3 version could have come out early then 360 version.
However im really interested with this new game MAG, looking forward to this game then FFXIII.FFXIII is very bottom of me list atm.

hmm why I thought it was only on PS3 strange. it really su** that its going to be on 360 it doesn’t deserve good Japanese RPG s and why they make it for 360 Sh** @__@ I always consider if a game is made for 360 too that game just can’t be that good as it would have been if it was made for PS3 only it will be downgraded version of what can be done with the game because of 360 su**.

Im getting this game anyways, it hypes me more as i know ms has payed bi check to get exclusive and mp games, lets hope they use it to speed up the proccess (even though its slower doe to 360 version). And they better have option for subs for the ps3 (instead of cutting down on the ps3 even though it got space it).

Yeah I suppose what makes it even more disappointing for some people is that there aren't many RPG's on the PS3 but I'm not an RPG fan so it doesn't really affect me. People who bought the PS3 for these now multiplatform games like DMC and FF13 must be pretty annoyed.

even though this isn't an exclusive anymore, it's still going to be an awesome game. We still get versus anyway so it's not a complete loss. BTW looking @ Untildeath89's avatar reminds me of the other frikin amazing RPG exclusive we r going to get. White Knight Story. If you havnt seen the battle system it looks awesome.

I'm still looking forward to the game. I won't say I'm not bitter about lose of its exclusivity, cause I am. However, a game is a game and its not like we don't get it at all. Also, due to Harmonix statement about RB2, it shows me outside of market share, all you need is $$$.
So as far as VS goes. I bet money that if FF13 sells well on the 360 and PS3 is still behind in market penetration.....VS will go mutli.

HAHA i find this article and everything Yoshinori Kitase have to say about FF XIII funny. 2 weeks ago you couldnt get a word out of them about FF XIII now since they put the knife in Sony and Loyd FF fans in the back now "cough cough" FF XIII story is complete. they shouldve said this "PS3 version been done for a while now, now that the 3sh** copy is done and we waited till the biggest stage to say we made a 3sh** copy and now finished it. FF XIII story is now complete we’re just about to start the voice casting and recording" now that sounds better to me how about yall .......

still who cares the story is finished so by the end of the year the voices are done still 2010 by the time the game comes out in the us and europe all thnks to waiting for a 360 port, if square enix really wanted to reduce the time taken to relases the game bring the ps3 version out in europe and us once the localization has been done

What would be funny if Square would make FFXIII as good as possible on the PS3 and load graphics and everything up to the max, and make the game on 360 somehow, just that the game run's in a more or less smooth way. I bet sales would be massive on PS3 and for 360 they'd sell like 5 copies because the game couldn't just stand ground with the PS3 version

@ Awake... why would you tell someone to grow the fock up if they have no interest in this game. I've been playing FF since the third installation. I didn't even finish FFXII, I'm just over the franchise... time to let it go and work on a new IP. I'm more interested in what Bethesda has to offer with Fallout 3. Also, even if someone doesn't play the game because it went multiplat, that is great in my book... they show the developers that loyalty is still an important part of the industry.

I'm up in the air on this title, not sure I'm into JRPG's, though I wish I had a chance to play FF VII just to see what it's like. All I know is I played the original FF on the NES and that was without a dought the best RPG ever on a console for that era. I'll probably wait and see, although it would appear it's JRPG or no RPG for the PS3 at the moment. Meanwhile the 360box has RPG's coming out of it's ar$e, or is that the RROD? I get confused sometimes.

Although I'm not happy with the cross platiform situation it's still not as bad as it was for people who waited for the Final Fantasy that was supposed to come out for the Nintendo Ultra/64. We all got teased with a tech demo for FF7. Only for it to be released on the original playstation, in hindsight it was the best and only choice.

I think the people saying that we hate SE should speak for themselves.. I couldn't be happier with all of these update and I'm so happy they've finally started talking about release schedules...this PS3 owner is as happy as he always was and here's hoping for a speeding arrival !! I don't know why are you guys mad. Who cares the game has gone multi? It is still coming to the PS3 isn't it? You guys are nothing but a big bunch of fanboys. I would be pissed if this game would have gone exlusively to the Xbox. That would make me mad. I just hope this game is better then XII, this one was not that good.

What can you tell those who were saving all their money to get a PS3 just to get FF13 when it was announced as a PS3 exclusive? If you are not sure just don't announce it as an exclusive....EASY.

wow, why all they hate! people here just seem to want to rag on other just because they choose not to spend their own ( not your money) on a game because it no longer exclusive to the PS3. hey if you don't like the game, or just hate it for being multi- platform, more power to you, at least you're in rare exclusive group who still know the meaning of the word loyalty. it your money, do whatever you want , everyone else, f??k off

To the first post:I'll be honset, I am dissapointed that Final Fantasy 13 will no longer support or use PlayStation 3's hardware to its advantage, but its not going to stop me from buying the game and it's pretty much a given fact that the game[Xbox 360 version]will have at least three disc's so that it remains 40-50Gb and I don't have a problem with that.
Then seeing as Square-Enix have confirmed that Final Fantasy Versus 13 is reamining exclusive[although I can' trust them]and that they'll have another title called One Goal Spirit exclusive to PlayStation 3. I don't really have a problem with it as long as they keep there damn word!

I believe Jack tretton said that they did not have the money to maintain the exclusivity, which i guess is because of their first party development and publishing of such titles such as Infamous, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, DC universe, littlebigplanet, mag and what ever else they are developing.
I would say that was good since they can make new IP and start new Franchises that are without question exclusive.

Great news, I am very exited. Im sure this game will be very good. I made me a bit sad to see it go multi, for sony's sake. But I think sony deserves to loose this 3rd party exclusive if they wont "grease the wheels" a bit to keep them.
