Madden owners may be happy to hear that the much disliked radio announcer commentary present since the 2007 version of the game is going to be replaced for the 2009 release.
Electronic Arts has revealed that they have taken note of consumer complaints in regards to the commentary supplied by Madden and Al Michaels, and although not announcing anything specific, they did imply that the series would be relying on two established football commentators for the next version's in-game commentary.
"I have to be careful about this. Although I can… We are making a change in the Madden commentators. I can’t mention who they are. We are using some of the biggest names in the business. We listened to the fans and we are making a change. And that will be more than one. It will be a fantastic year for Madden fans, I think they’re gonna be thrilled with this new direction. I don’t think I can say much more than that."
Because of its license with ESPN, EA may end up considering the Monday Night Football crew for the job, although the company has yet to show much interest in utilizing the license for this type of affair. Madden and Michaels cannot be counted out, as the former is the namesake of the franchise. Keep on the lookout for any new updates, as we get closer to Madden's summer release.

Never played one of these games but... Whats the big deal?
Man listen...Until they make gameplay like Madden again and not like the 2k series, then maybe I will blow $60 on it.If 3fixme fans like 2k style let em keep it. But dont make the PS version the same way.
psn id: gingo.... never played an American football game (except demos) but they dont interest me at all and i dont see why such a big fuss over the commentators surely u can turn them off
i dont think madden is anything like the 2k series. they are completely different in my opinion. i loved the nfl 2k franchise, probably the most fun games ive played, imo. if madden started changing more toward the 2k titles, then i think more people would want to spend $60. They need another overhall b/c several people think that the maddens today are not like the maddens of 2004 and 2005. thats probably b/c they bought the nfl licence and theres no compitition for them to make a better madden game.
wow, that's all they are adding to the game come on EA, give me a better reason to purchase this 09 madden
All pro football 2K8 was MUCH better than Madden has ever been. the game could use some work but hopefully the next one will be better. even if they didnt change a thing, it would be better than madden. All pro football was very unique and I traded madden 08 for all pro football 2K8. the gameplay was ages better than I have ever seen in madden.
The commentary part is not a big deal to me, however, they mentioned a while ago that the frame rate was going to be at 60fps or was it 80fps, That's what I'm interested in. I play Madden without any commentary & just turn up the field and stadium sound effects up!!!
Well this is one step to improve madden to where it has to be, its been disapointing to play madden lately because of the "slow and tight" feel to it. NCAA Football is more smooth and free and I hope madden gets better gameplay soon!
APF 2K8 was awful...the graphics were better but the gameplay was the same as ESPN 2K5...and y do people comment on a topic when all they say is...I dont play madden...its pointless...and for TekkenLord...who ever said thats all they were adding to the game?
Never played any of these games, but if they take Madden out of the commentary, don't they have to change the name? Like... Aikman '09 or something?
I wish this excited me more, but unfortunately I have not been into Madden for a few years now, I just feel that they have gotten lazy with it.
