Avalon Style Entertainment announced today that it has licensed Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 for use in its upcoming third instalment in the popular 4x4 Off Road series.

Due to be published by 1C Company for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360, 4x4 Off Road III allows gamers to compete in realistic off-road racing, as well as the ability to modify vehicles.

The game will also include trial races, where the players must use their puzzle solving skills to overcome various obstacles and hazards, such as mud puddles, rock formations and more.

Vyacheslav Gordeye, CEO of Avalon Style, commented: "Epic's Unreal Engine 3 is at the forefront of multiplatform game development.”

"The technology has been successfully used in many critically acclaimed titles, and we feel fully armed to make the first off-road driving simulator on Unreal Engine 3 thanks to its built-in vehicle support, powerful PhysX system, and many other leading edge features."

Stay tuned.

Oh great, another dev relying on the UE3 to put their game together and sell a broken port.  They'd be better off using Motorstorm's engine for cars.  Not that I really care.  No game that starts with 4x4 ever turns out good.

I thought this game was dead, nice to see that they're bringing it back even though they're using Unreal Engine.

I'll say it again. Give me split screen or count me out. Come on game makers, lets not be lazy.

GR8ST:  Do you know how hard it is to render the same geometry from two different angles, then rasterize it onto the same screen?

Totally Twisted:  I agree, a ps3 game using CryEngine2 would be stellar, but lets see how Ps3 Crysis turns out before we abandon Unreal Engine 3 completely.
