New PS3 shooters on the way?

Blorge.com has caught wind of another three game projects, at least one of which is confirmed for PlayStation 3.

The confirmed PS3 title is Sky Gods, a cooperative shooter that sees you paradropping from speeding aircraft to clean up Johnny Evildoer. Originally conceived as a military simulator, the game gives you full control of your character during freefall and charges you with steering him to a landing zone unharmed.

Sky Gods utilises the Unreal Engine 3, which may explain why it will be coming to PSN and PC but not to Xbox Live. The presence of Epic Games' ubiquitous tech practically guarantees the game will exceed Microsoft's 300 MB file limit - Sony, of course, imposes no such restrictions on PSN downloads. Release dates have yet to be announced.

Elsewhere, Seed Studios is hard at work on two new IPs. The first of these is Blue Shift, a post-apocalyptic shooter revolving around team tactics and impractically-clad goth chicks, set in what the developer's site is calling "a world of extremes, fire and ice, mega wealth and grinding poverty, predators and prey." Genetically engineered guard dogs and robot drones are tipped to feature. Again, there's no mention of release dates just yet.

Seed Studios' second title is Epoch Wars, a "casual RTS" with an alleged 10 minute learning curve. Eschewing resource-gathering and construction in favour of no-nonsense firefights and contextual commands, the game is likely to join fellow strategy release Savage Moon on PSN. There's plenty of multiplayer goodness to be had here, with cooperative modes, ranked and unranked matches, tournaments and voice chat support all in the works. Epoch Wars is slated for release in Q2 2009.

    My thoughts? That Sony should stop making  shooters all the friggin time, and make RPG titles. Friggin retards

    I like shooters. But we get enough fps titles from third party devs. It's up to Sony to make us some AAA RPG's and other more radical titles.

    ugh! more shooters?! Ive had enough, i agree with Infernoz0, GIVE US SOME RPGS. I need a break from shooting people all the time.

    Undertow on XBLA was built on the Unreal 3 engine, so just because this game uses Unreal 3, doesn't mean that it won't appear on XBLA.

    Is there a way to actually complain to Sony about this? Wanting more RPG's instead of shooters, is there a way to complain anyone know?

    Wow more games based on guns.  Can't wait for GOW3, its going to be such a relief playing something different.

    Yeah the FPS is getting old, we are in desperate need for other genres, Why not try resurrecting the point & click/graphic adventure(I suppose Heavy Rain falls into this category)? Yes, more RPGs would be very welcome! Are there any other genres that are missing from the PlayStation 3?

    I'm not sure what version of the Unreal Engine 3 it was, but it definately used Unreal Engine 3.

    Three more Shooters!  WOW!  Ok enough shooters.  Fary Cry 2, Killzone 2 and RFOM 2 are gonna be mopre than enough for any Shooter fan.

    Enough with the shooters I've had it.

    They need to bring back platform games and the extreme sports (not tony hawk or skate). Most def they need the RPG's even some horror games.

    More and more I look at my Ps2 collection and see why PS2 was so great.

    I didn't realise there were so many RPG fans here. I prefer shooters but I'll only buy the top shooters like Resistance, Killzone and maybe MAG. If they ask me they need to remake 'old skool' games like Gradius on the PSN because I don't think that parachuting one will be any good (gut instinct).

    RPG's happen to be the most wanted genre that PlayStation 3 owners are wanting, not shooters all the damn time. Shooters are nice but having friggin millions of the damn things is plain annoying Sony.

    Shooter: Again do I have to repeat myself? And no just because you don't enjoy RPG's, doesn't make others that do "nerds" dip****.

    I love shooter games but i only buy the best on the market (that's i didn't buy Haze) but the ps3 should have every type of game available like eyetoy games for the ps2 and thank good we'll be getting games like LBP, a real breath of freash air to me!
