SEGA has confirmed that it currently has no plans to bring PlayStation 3 exclusive brawler Yakuza 3 to western territories.

Due for release in Japan on February 26, Yakuza 3 takes place in Kamuro-cho, the fictional setting for the original two games, and the real-world southern Japanese prefecture of Okinawa, with players once again assuming control of series protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu.

The sequel also forms part of the “Rising Dragon” bundle pack in Japan, which contains an 80GB PlayStation 3 console, a DualShock 3 pad and a copy of the game.

Stay tuned for more details on Yakuza 3 as they break.

    The Yakuza series confuses me. I thought the Fuedal japan Era game was the 3rd one. Did the second one even get a US release? they made 4 of these games are any of them actually any good? I downloaded the demo for the Fuedal one but If the main thrust of the series is meant to be present day why was that even made?

    It's like making a bunch of Metal Gear games and then one of them just happens to be a western.

    @ Alpha2, the first two games were made in present day Japan, and this one (Yakuza 3) is set in the past.  Yes, they finally released Yakuza 2 on the PS2 last last year.   I believe it will come to the west eventually.

    Incorrect, Yakuza Kenzan! was set in the past where you played as Musashi Miyamoto. Yakuza 3 is the direct sequel of the Yakuza series continuing the story of Kazama Kiryu

    @alpha 2

    The Yakuza games are fantastic. They are set in an open world but are more like Heavey story driven brawler.

    Yakuza 1: Great game. Set in modern day japan.

    Yakuza 2: Even better than first. Set in modern day japan.

    Yakuza Kenzan: Interesting side story. Trying to get through it by my japanese is basic. Set in old japan. 1605 (edo period)

    Yakuza 3: Sega better import this game. Set in modern day japan.

    I would imagine that if they're going to pring it here at all they're going to wait a half a year, If 2 just came out a few months ago and Kenzan wa pretty recent then they would probably want to consentrate on promoating the game in Japan for a while first before going through the trouble to localize it for america and spending money on voice actors. If it comes here at all it'll probably be after september.

    try to market your great games more here an maybe people buy them. Valkyria Chronicles would have sold if there would have been some marketing. Nobody just gets interested about strange japanese games if people do not what they are about.

    Well if they don't bring it over, you can't hardly blame them since VC sold so poorly. Why would they take another hit for doing another exclusive that probably nobody will buy? I'd buy it, but I can't speak for anyone else.

    More stupid decisions by Sega.Since the Saturn,they have burried them selves with poor decisions which lead to the death of the DreamCast.Sega had some of the best developer teams,but some of the worst executives that ever existed.Shame,because I was looking dorward to this game,is Benrie back at the company?

    I think we should contact Phil Harrsion ask about his opinoin if its worth the risk in europe and us. Maybe atari will take that risk in eu/us and market the game right.
