Rumor: Rockstar working on PS3 exclusive

According to the October issue of EGM, the developers behind the infamous Grand Theft Auto IV franchise are hard at work on a new PlayStation 3 exclusive.
The PS3 exclusive was revealed to be in the works last year by SCEA's Michael Shorrock, director of third-party relations. He stated that the game has yet to be officially announced, cutting out the possibility of the new title being Rockstar's L.A. Noire.
"We are announcing that a new franchise from Rockstar Games will be exclusive to PS3. As part of our long standing relationship with Rockstar, and the incredible success for both companies with the cultural icon that is Grand Theft Auto, we’ve agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios," said Shorrock.
"Rockstar really wanted to make a game that you can truly only do on PS3, harnessing the power of CELL and Blu-ray disc and this deal lets them do just that."
What could this new game be? Guesses range from reviving Red Dead Revolver to Grand Theft Auto V, although chances are the new PS3 exclusive will likely be a new IP. Stay tuned for more information.

I doubt it will be GTA5. I'm interested in seeing more about it though.

Wasn't this rumored quite sometime ago? Like last year? Is this the same game? Are they close to finishing it or what?

could this be la noire. i hope rockstar creates something great for the ps3, since GTA4 was a huge let down

Well, hopefully, Sony will airlift some in-house techs to assist. Just think: a game from R* that runs as smoothly as a first party title. Yeah...
And I wish Sony would just buy Rockstar Games from TakeTwo. I think Sony (and PS3 owners in general) have gotten more than their fair share of being screwed over this time around.

yea rockstar better make a amazing game after the disapointing GTA IV going multiplat messed a classic title up. i dout they surpass MGS 4 but lets see what they can do with the cell chip. yea i think its MAX PAYNE to maybe this is why sony let GTA IV go for the rights of this game thats being made now.

Why is everyone saying there bringing back an old game, like Red Dead Revolver, and Max Payne. In the article it says a new franchise on the PS3. And circlethesky, why wouldn't they harness the power. They would be able to, they would have help from Sony and they wouldn't have to worry about another system. And terminator, it cant be LA Noire, that game was announced awhile ago, and its supposed to be unannounced. I have no idea what it could be. They are good at racing games, well they were, and they are good at GTA, and Max Payne, put them all together and you got the best damn PS3 exclusive.

It's definatly not GTA V. They wouldn't make GTA IV and then just ditch the 360. Or would they? I can only hope so. lol.

well it says it clearly - "we've agreed to the PlayStation exclusive rights of the next great franchise from the Rockstar studios". = New Franchise and maybe more exclusive along the way.

if they making a ps3 exclusive it cant be LA Noise because its already been announced few years back as a ps3 exclusive, so im guessing there's something new coming as well, although LA Noise is announced there will be 2 games exclusive now then. LA Noise & ???????????

It's violent and controversial amazing now the Media is at the Playstation 3 again Daily Kunts (Daily Mirror). It has to be great if not send Rockstar to the pits of Broken Microsoft products

It is not going to be GTAV because they would lose a lot of money doing that. It is going to be a new game all together most likely which sounds even better to me.

GTAV maybe but I doudt it. Honestly we didn't lose GTA Franchise this generation. We lost it last generation so I doudt they will bring it to PS3 only.
Honestly the GTA are ok but all left out something. I want a new IP one that is like GTA IV...but better. I want planes...I want to enter every building like in Oblvion, I want to own yachts... big yachts. Just everything. I want it o be bigger then San Andreas but look as good as GTA IV and feel as good Vice City.
A new IP has great potential on the PS3. Gotta love the Cell. Gotta Love Blue.

UM once again what are the people who type this stuff thinking true a new ip would somewhat harness some of the ps3's power but they said also on the new bluray disc. how does the blu ray disc have anything to do with a new ip. And rockstar is all about the games them selves two make money. Ip's give me a break thats like them saying the game they are makeing is dig dug

guys can u believe if they did the new gta just for the ps3 and it's the next san andreas and it will be awesome if they did like 45 gig ( out of 50gb ( the blu-ray disc)) everyone is gonna buy a ps3 and even xbox guys will sell there xboxes and get a ps3, wow man i really wish to get that feeling that i will get if i heard such news
