Sony: PS3 is "perfect example of forward thinking"

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) is continuing its PR onslaught this morning, with Vice President of Product Marketing Scott Steinberg popping up on Edge Online to dissect the strengths of the PlayStation 3.
"Choice is part of the value proposition," he began. "And it is something that is thread through all parts of our business model. It’s thread through our games, which are not just mono-experiences, but a variety of content-types from LittleBigPlanet to Gran Turismo to Metal Gear to Resistance 2."
But it's not all about the big hitters - Steinberg went on to praise Sony's commitment to indie developers.
"We’re more open then some of our other competitors from a network standpoint," he said. "We are attracting that creativity from smaller developers. In a way it’s almost like the 16-bit days, when five guys in a garage could create something amazing, without having to invest heavily. Those games offer yet more choice to the consumer."
To round things up, Steinberg sang the virtues of Sony's ten year hardware strategy. "PS3 is the perfect example of forward thinking, of ignoring the notion of planned obsolescence. We recognize that the industry can’t go through that kind of trauma of three or four years whenever there’s a new system and development has to relearn things."
"The brilliance of PS3 is that it’s not a dead, dumb terminal like other machines," he concluded. "We can throw layers of firmware into that box and always be contemporary with technology. We can reflect and respond to how people are using entertainment."
There's plenty more after the link.

lol I like how he called the competition "dead, dumb terminals" :P
Also, teh comment about the Sat Rec gatting FW updates is dumd. Heck my TV has a usb port for FW updates, but the scope in which sony updates thier machine is far beyound any simple machine like the Sat Rec or TV.

Agreed my friends, finally somebody at Sony is ready to start slinging some friggin mud in the eye of those dead, dumb terminals and their busted business models. NOW the challenge is to get people to understand that the PS3 isn't just another console choice or route, but it's active, rather than passive, in its functionality. Some marketing would help, I think the old tag for the Dreamcast would actually make sense here "It's Thinking."
