Sony Japan offering demo discs to new PS3 customers

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) has announced a new promotional initiative in the region targeting new PlayStation 3 adopters.

First time buyers will be able to snap up a special disc containing playable demos and footage of both already released and upcoming PS3 games, with consumers able to choose from either family friendly or mature-orientated promotional content.

While a fair chunk of the content is already available on the PlayStation Store, there’s one particular gem lurking on the White disc in the form of an online/offline co-op demo of Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil 5.

According to reports, the demo discs will be hitting shelves on December 18. See below for a list of what you can expect with each disc.

    To be honest this should have been done recently for all PS3 units not just Japan, remember the black demo discs you used to get with the PS1? Awwwww those were the days!

    That means that soon we should be getting the RE5 demo on PSN by the mid or end of december.

    White Disc > Red pml. Though, I spose their respective titles say it all :P
    Bout time they did this in my opinion, just like Hesmanes, I remember those demo discs we got witht he Ps1, did we ever get em for the PS2? Whatever, I just think if any company adds anythin to their prosducts with the word "free" attached to it, it's a bonus. A bl00dy big bonus!!

    psn id: gingo... this is a very interesting initative by SCEJ i think SCEE AND SCEA should take heed and follow suit with more western like games

    Give 2 first party titles instead... and pre-fill the hard-drives with demos

    A Blu-Ray disc just to put some demos in it.

    Its good to spare space on the PS3 HD.

    psn id: gingo... GINGO YOU'RE STUPID.  "I think [they] should take heed..."  Who says that?  How come you're always able to be one of the first to comment.  Get a life, and stop refreshing PSU!
