Sony reveals PS3's 'Best' boxarts

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) has unveiled the boxart designs for its forthcoming PlayStation 3 ‘Best’ series in the region. Unlike the snazzy cover art of the previous generations hits from North America, the company has put out a similar choice of design to their last generation's version of their, “the Best” brand in Japan.

Five different titles have been chosen for this lineup, which includes Folksoul (Folklore), Ridge Racer 7, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Gundam, and Resistance: Fall of Man. It was kind of odd not to see MotorStorm meet the requirements to be considered one of PlayStation’s Best, but we’re sure it will be next in line.

    "Unlike the snazzy cover art of the previous generations, the company has put out an odd choice of design to this generations version of their “Greatest Hits” brand." I don't understand this. This PLAYSTATION 3 the Best design doesn't look dissimilar to the PlayStation 2 the Best design. You're not comparing apples to oranges are you? PS3 the Best (JP) to PS2 Greatest Hits (US)?

    That sentance that Fiddlesworth pointed out still doesn't make sense. From what I read your saying that unlike the NA boxart, they chose a similar design for JP? Condtradiction? And yeah, that yellow just looks awful, what's wrong with a good colour like silver or red?

    the US will prob look better...i hope cuz this is UGLY but i do like the way they change the left side to yellow so you can spot them out faster smart idea

    I really hope that U.S ones are not like that. They should keep 'em similar to PS2 ones or go retro do it like PS1 with a green strip...

    the other use to be silver now its kinda golden i would like to see blue too bad its not gonna be this but hoping for ps4 or whatever they gonna call it :D, golden fit the going from silver to better but not really good to your eyes.

    lol, they look really bad, i think they should have just made the "playstation" on the side gold.

    Hopefully Euro and USA versions will look better.

    That's UGLY!!

    They could've put silver/gray colors there, but that Yellow and White are just UGLY. YUCK!!!

    I'd hate to have them on my shelf next to the black/grey cases....

    WTH, couldn't they make it silver or white or something. Yellow does not match any of the games or the PS3. Plus what is up with the wird "best" icon. Ewww. I'd rather have them in the original boxart.

    That yellow looks like sh!t, why can't the sides be silver with black writing.  Secondly they have 'Playstation 3 the best' written twice.  Once at the top and secondly on the yellow circle.  You only need to say it once, I so hope that yellow thing is a sticker so it can come off.

    Dont like those covers that much.. too bland. But thats just for the Japanese isnt is, so hopefully Australia/Europe/US will get a hot cover design.

    Looks pretty cool, specially the Folklore one looks the best,

    not like i care anyways of all my PS2 and PSP games i barely have only have like 3-4 gratest hits tittles.

    This shows how big a difference there is between the Japanese and American market.  I doubt you'd find some of those games as "best" in the States.  Our tastes are way different.

    They are also super ugly, white and yellow just says "crap on me please".

    This artwork just looks terrible; it looks like it was designed by a blind child with arthritis. In a coma. Whoever chose the color scheme for this box was probably asked to do so at gun point, because I don't think it's possible to choose an uglier color.

    Errrr.... No.... I think it looks crap. They should have kept the original box art and made the writing of they playstation Logo in Gold  with maybe 5c gold stars at the bottom on the front or back cover. Something like that.

    But hey if they do make it like that all around if it means the games are 50% cheaper i'll buy it.... But by then I'll own most of them already.
