Square: "Progress is good" on FFXIII international release

Yoichi Wada, president and CEO of Square Enix, has revealed that the international version of eagerly anticipated RPG Final Fantasy XIII is making "good" progress.

Speaking during a recent financial briefing, Wada added that there is a possibility the game may see the light of day during the company’s current financial year, which ends on April 30, 2010. Whether or not this pertains to both the North American and European conversion of the game remains to be seen.

Japanese gamers will be able to get their mitts on a copy of the PlayStation 3 version of Final Fantasy XIII from December 17.

    hey good news, means we shouldn't have to wait too long for the euro version then if all goes to pan, i really used to hjate waiting 6+ months after a sqare enix game was launched in japan to get hold of it.

    @4.  Maybe Square end THEIR financial year at the end of April as this is what the post says, THEIR financial year.  Although you are right, the majority of companies say March to March.

    Every time there is any info posted on this game, I feel obligated to slam the game. Cross platform = the game is dumbed down the the lowest common denominator in all aspects. Im sure there is actual verbage in the M$ contract that says, "This game will suck equally on the PS3 and Xbox360". Most the the gameplay videos I have seen of this game look poor, honestly GOW2 upscaled on the ps3 looks better. I want the ps3 enhanced ffxiii, the one that looks as good as MGS4 and Uncharted 2, gaming is supposed to push the limits of what is technically possible, the fact that they have scaled it back to work on the M$ platform or run on my iphone does not motivate me to play it.  My guess is the game is finished but Square is going through it with a fine toothed comb looking for ways to make both console version suck equally.

    Graphics look superior and cleaner to MGS4. Obviously not Uncharted 2 level, who cares tho since no game will match that for a while.

    mgs4 graphics are just as goos as uncharted 2, its just the contrast and lush enviornments make unchartedslightly prettier to look at

    metal gear  graphic still better than uncharted 2. uncharted looks like plastic doll compare to MGS.

    I heard that Sony made sure they wouldnt nerf it on the ps3. And as a matter of fact 360 version would lack fully rendered cutscenes in true 1080p and would be cut down on texture size or something. Just like the version of Dragon Age: Origins on 360 had much lower texture quality. ( I am guessing that was due to the lack of space on the disc?)

    Also, something about Sony declining the contract to square... Then square decided to back off from nerfing it on Ps3 and leave it *better*. And Sony would even have managed to negociate the contract for FF13 at an even lower cost. Which I thougth was a nice kick in Square's Ballz haha.

    Thats stuff I gathered from mouth to mouth and internet. Correct me if I am wrong.

    As long as the game is good, I have no complains if its quality isn't as good as Uncharted 2(We might have to wait till next generation till that happens!. Also, we can pretty much buy Final Fantasy 13 this year and cut the crap of waiting till next year. Import anyone?. Then again, the US version might have extras.. and importing it does cost money.. Lots and lost of money.

    But hey, if you're one of those people who likes to bash your Xbox 360 friends, go crazy and import it and play it in front of them on your PS3!.

    Maybe they do have to downsize somewhat for the 360, but remember they ysaid they're aiming for a 3 disc set and not sacrificing the quality for Xbox. Oh the benifits of Blu-ray!
