Students protest grotesque dog killing in Call of Duty

Students from the Academy of Notre Dame have begun protesting the violence against dogs seen in the massively popular Call of Duty: World at War.
"Killing dogs as a form of entertainment ... over and over again. That's one of the objects of the game. Parents need to know what they are buying their kids. Killing animals should not be a form of entertainment," said 19-year-old Breanna Lucci, president of the school's Animal Rights Club.
Lucci recently began a petition against this computerized animal murder, which has garnered over 100 signatures from her classmates.
"My little 12-pound Pomeranian, Winnie the Pooh, is sitting next to [my brother, who is playing Call of Duty: World at War], and I'm thinking, 'This looks horrible!' My brother is a sweetheart. He won't be killing dogs after playing. But some people might."
Following that logic, if an animal trained to kill is jumping at your throat while you're holding a gun, you shouldn't defend yourself. Also, note how Lucci doesn't seem to have an issue with shooting the other humans in the game. It makes you wonder where some people's priorities are.

Well considering the sick people out there yeah it is wrong and I agree with her.
It's easier to kill a dog than a human obviously.
It's not like anyones going to really wonder where the dog is when it's not paying it's bill.
So it is a priority. It's enough that we are showing violent kills of humans but it's already expected.

Animal lovers love animals more than humans the rpotest proves this becasue they are not protesting the killing of humans.
I saw a piece on TV and a dogbreeder saying that young children (under 2 years) and dogs should not be left alone together because the child could be cruel to the dog, nto that the dog could kill the child.

I wanna see a bear attack one of these fools. They would probably rather give up their own life than fight back because they are afraid to hurt the animal's self-esteem or some BS. Some of these animal lovers make me sick.
And seriously, if somebody goes out and kills a dog after playing COD they should be shot.

This is just stupid, they complain about killing a dog when the entire game is about killing other humans... mind blowing. -

They're just looking for some publicity. They haven't played the game otherwise, this would have been reported months ago. Another group of people who wants to feel offended by something trivial. What's next tree huggers complaining that MLB 09 encourages people to drop a tree to make baseball bats??

@neoxthexone - well said.
Where a video game is based on real world events, it's always art mimicking an existing reality, not the other way around. These things happen, have happened and will continue to happen, and video games will not have any impact on the real life counterpart it represents because the people that commit the acts would do it anyway.
Keep it out of young impressionable hands, sure - but it's already got the rating sticker on it, so where's the problem?

These damn bleeding hearts. The world is a horrible place and we're focusing on this? The smartest people know you can't change anything when it comes to free speech and expression and video games, movies, television and books all fall under that category. You don't like it don't play it but don't bug me about what I don't agree with you about.

Yeah, that's right. Killing dogs should not be a form of entertainment. Killing people, on the other hand, is perfectly acceptable.
After playing CODWAW for the first time and killing the dogs, I decided to go outside with a baseball bat and beat the $#@% out of my neighbors dog. Then I cut the dog into halves and threw the bottom half into a fire. Then I took the head and hung it over my fireplace and then sent the torso to the rabid dog murders at Treyarch, who began devouring it. Killing dogs is what makes them happy. As a matter of fact, a lot of the COD5 uses backmasking to send hidden brain washing dog killing messages.
I've been putting these dog heads above my fireplace for quite a while and sending their torsos to Treyarch, all while putting their bottom halves into a huge fire. So far I have 804 heads, made $1,000,000, and have made a fire big enough to engulf New York City.

"My brother is a sweetheart. He won't be killing dogs after playing. But some people might."
And here we find the problem with her whole arguement; the borther won't, but others will. Why won't the brother kill dogs in real liffe? Because he knows better. These "people who might" are already screwed up, and will do stuff like killing dogs wheter they play COD or not.
People like this really make me mad. If you're gonna get mad about something, make it something that is somewhat meaningful. Something other than "Little jimmy is shooting dogs (who happen to be trying to maul him) in a video game"

Enough of this hippy cr@p ... send this stupid bint to Sierra Leone for the afternoon and she'll soon get the idea that animal rights is a bunch of old nonsense.
Idea for a new game ... rounding up animal rights activists and shooting them :o)

Well so killing those hundreds of people in the game is also ok??? Come on, it is just a game. I am against animal cruelty but coome on it is in the context of the game. The game isnt about just killing dogs. There were dogs used and still are as a way of defense/attack in war and the game those that, it resembles what happens in war.
Hmmm wait a second!!!!! this guy is 19 years old so I guess his brother is younger (he is a sweetheart) so for starters why is he letting his brother play or see that game!!!! Instead of making a statement this people should think before saying something stupid.
