Parents – avert your children’s eyes. It seems the co-founder of Vivid Entertainment wants Sony to allow HD adult movies on the PlayStation Network. In an interview with MCV, Steven Hirsch said he’d like Sony to allow pre-paid porn releases in other regions outside of Japan, because he believes the PS3 has “real potential” for the adult entertainment industry.
“As long as proper age verification is in place, there is no reason why consumers should not be allowed to view adult movies on any device that they desire,” he said. “It’s too early to say to what extent this could help our business, but it certainly has real potential.”
In Japan, DDM.tv has launched an HD porn download service for the PS3, but the service is restricted to its home territory.
“[DDM’s launch] is a good start. We hope that Sony will allow adult movies to be downloaded worldwide.”
Neither Sony Computer Entertainment Europe nor America have received a formal request from Vivid about this service for the West.
